About Knoxville Art Studio
1. What is Knoxville Art Studio?
Knoxville Art Studio is a local creative-learning studio offering personalized painting, drawing, pottery, sculpture and mixed-media instruction for kids, teens and adults.
2. Where is Knoxville Art Studio located?
The studio is at 6859 Harvest Grove Lane, Knoxville, TN 37918. It is located behind the residence; follow the right-side sidewalk to the back. Parking is available in front, and signs help guide arriving students.
3. Who teaches the classes?
Classes are led by founder and art professor Elena Sonbok McMillan, an award-winning artist and educator with more than 30 years of creative practice and extensive art-education experience.
4. What makes Knoxville Art Studio different?
Students are not limited to one identical project. You can bring an idea, reference image, unfinished work or tutorial and receive personal, hands-on guidance for the techniques your project needs.
Class Information
5. What types of art classes do you offer?
Knoxville Art Studio offers kids and teen art classes, adult painting and studio-art classes, pottery classes, private art lessons, Studio Pass memberships, seasonal workshops, summer camps, and private art parties or group events.
6. Can I choose what I learn in class?
Yes. Students can pursue a preferred medium or bring an idea, reference image, unfinished piece or tutorial. Instruction is personalized around the techniques that project requires.
7. How long are classes?
Many standard classes are approximately two hours, but duration varies by class, camp and workshop. The booking page shows the current length for each offering.
8. How much do classes cost?
Current prices are displayed on the booking page because class formats, materials and special workshops vary. Review the selected class before checkout for its exact price and inclusions.
9. Are materials included?
Materials are included when stated in the class description. Pottery classes include clay, tools and class materials; firing and glazing are separate services unless a specific workshop explicitly says otherwise.
10. Do I need art experience?
No. Complete beginners are welcome, and returning or advanced artists can receive focused help with technique, creative roadblocks and portfolio development.
11. What age groups do you teach?
Programs are available for kids, teens and adults. Kids and teen offerings generally serve ages 6–17; check each class or camp description for its specific age range.
Pottery & Clay Classes
12. Do you offer pottery classes in Knoxville?
Yes. Adult Pottery and Kids & Teen Pottery classes welcome beginners and returning students. Instruction may include wheel throwing, hand-building, sculpting, trimming and glazing fundamentals.
13. What is included in the pottery class?
Clay, tools and class materials are included. Firing and glazing are not included in the class booking; Knoxville Art Studio offers a separate bisque-and-glaze firing service.
14. Do I need prior experience to take pottery classes?
No. Complete beginners are welcome, and instruction is adjusted to each student’s skills, questions and project.
15. How long does pottery firing take?
The separate firing service typically takes 2–6 weeks, depending on class schedules and kiln availability. We’ll notify you when your pottery is ready for pickup.
Private Lessons
16. What happens in a private art lesson?
Private lessons provide one-on-one instruction with Professor Elena McMillan, customized to your goals — whether it’s painting, drawing, mixed media, or portfolio preparation.
17. How do I schedule a private lesson?
Private lessons can be booked directly through our website’s booking page or by contacting us at info@knoxvilleartstudio.com.
18. Can two people share a private lesson?
Yes! Semi-private sessions can be arranged for small groups (2–3 students). Please contact us for pricing and scheduling options.
Creative Wellness
19. Do you offer creative wellness sessions?
Yes. Art-based creative wellness sessions can support mindful creativity, personal expression and confidence through the artistic process. These are creative educational experiences and are not a substitute for licensed mental-health care.
20. Can creative wellness sessions be private?
Private sessions may be available by appointment. Contact the studio to discuss the format, availability and creative goals before booking.
Booking & Policies
21. How do I book a class?
Choose your class on the Knoxville Art Studio booking page, select an available time and complete checkout online. Your confirmation will contain the details for your session.
22. Can I reschedule or cancel?
The cancellation and rescheduling terms displayed during booking apply to your reservation. Contact the studio as early as possible—ideally at least 48 hours before class—because late cancellations may be nonrefundable.
23. Can someone else use my reservation?
A class reservation may generally be transferred to a friend or family member when the studio is notified in advance. Contact the studio before the session to confirm the change.
24. What happens if the studio cancels?
If Knoxville Art Studio cancels a session, affected students will be offered an appropriate rescheduling or refund option.
25. What payment methods are accepted?
Available payment methods are shown securely during online checkout.
Class Experience & Studio Environment
26. How big are the classes?
Most classes have 4–8 students, allowing for personalized instruction and individual attention.
27. What should I wear to class?
Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little messy — creativity can get colorful! Aprons are provided for most classes.
28. Is Knoxville Art Studio beginner-friendly?
Absolutely! Every class is designed to be inclusive, supportive, and encouraging for beginners and returning artists alike.
29. Do you offer group or corporate events?
Yes! We offer private group events, Paint & Bite Nights, and team-building workshops. Contact us to customize your experience.
30. Can I host a birthday or special event at the studio?
Yes — Knoxville Art Studio hosts creative birthday parties, girls’ nights, and custom art events. Reach out to book your date!
Policies & Safety
31. Where can I find the current cancellation policy?
The terms shown during booking apply to that reservation. If anything is unclear, contact the studio before checkout so the applicable cancellation, transfer and rescheduling terms can be confirmed.
32. Is a waiver required?
Students or guardians should review and accept the studio terms and any waiver presented during booking or before participating in an art or pottery activity.
33. How is studio safety handled?
Instructors explain safe handling of clay, paint, tools and equipment. Students should follow instructor guidance, wear suitable clothing and disclose any relevant material sensitivities before class.

34. Do you offer online art classes?
Currently, all classes are held in person at our Knoxville studio to ensure hands-on learning. Virtual options may be offered in the future.
